Since 1989 Norbert Kungl has been known as one of the leading advocates for local, organic farming in Nova Scotia and this has been demonstrated through the family farm called Selwood Green, located in Hants County on the Minas Basin. As anyone who has ever bought vegetables from him will tell you… ‘Norbert really knows his vegetables’.
The next logical step for Norbert was to start cooking. Everyone already knows he can grow great food… so now he’s showing folks he also knows how to cook.
The food comes from the family farm and from the farms of his friends and neighbours. Farm fresh eggs from Northfield or Coldspring Farm. Cheese and yoghurt from The Dutchman and Fox Hill Cheese. Deli Meats from Roselane Farm, natural beef from Getaway Farm and organic meats from Shani’s Farm. Fresh berries from the fields on and near Selwood Green Farm and the vegetables… well the vegetables speak for themselves!

So when you have a hankering for something local and filling like our awesome OMG Egg Croissant Sandwich anytime of day, come to Norbert’s Kitchen in Selwood Green at the north end of the Halifax Seaport Market. We’re open 7 days a week, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
We’re serving up breakfast all day, heartily awesome lunch specials, vegetarian and vegan specialties, great organic fair trade coffee, and some healthy and delicious smoothies.
Eat in with a great view of the harbour or take out.
